We Played in the Snow…
The kids and I all kind of kidnapped each other and drove about seven hours away so we could play in the snow.
We’ve needed to play.
We even needed a seven hour car trip together. Truthfully, I don’t remember the last time we were all in the same car that long. Sitting 3′ apart from the people you love most for that length of time is an experience unto itself. But between naps, playing car games (“I see the letter ‘A’!”), listening to holiday music, and trying to come up with an idea for the holiday card we’ve yet to send out, we survived.
No arguments.
Perhaps the anticipation of snow – which none of us have yet to see this year – kept our attitudes in check.
Or maybe we just needed to get away. Together.
We found our snow. A 30″ base of it was waiting for us. Not from the hands of God. But from the nighttime magic of technology and some guys named Burt, Tony and Phil who magically make snow every night. Spraying it around as if their mountainous world was one, big movie set.
But that’s okay.
Because we got to do something we haven’t done as a family in a long, long time.
Play. In. Snow.
The only problem now is – we forgot about that seven hour car ride home.
Something tells me it won’t be a one horse open sleigh experience.
