Jim Higley is an award-winning author and a national advocate for fatherhood and men’s health issues.
After a prostate cancer detour at the age of forty-four, Jim traded in his 20-plus-year career in corporate America to become a full-time, stay-at-home, single dad to his three children. He documented a large part of that journey, along with his passion for positive parenting, in a weekly parenting column for the Chicago Tribune’s suburban paper reaching a monthly audience of over four million readers.
He became known as a thoughtful, relatable voice to people worldwide who enjoyed his stories in Men’s Health magazine, the Huffington Post, his video reports for NBC Universal iVillage as well as his weekly radio podcast, Bobblehead Dad Parenting. A finalist in the Erma Bombeck Global Writing Competition, Jim’s an insightful storyteller who has helped millions find meaning in the simple moments of their days.
Jim’s book, Bobblehead Dad: 25 Life Lessons I Forgot I Knew, is an inspirational story about his journey through cancer, fatherhood, and the rediscovery of several forgotten life lessons. It’s a winning finalist of an International Book Award and a ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year finalist.
With kids now raised and on their own, Jim is still considered a forward-thinking, action-oriented and inspiring leader in both the cancer and parenting communities worldwide. Through his platform, he helps people, businesses and causes connect and spread the message that there is value waiting in life’s nooks and crannies.
