Raising Boys Rocks – Says My Mom

This recent story in the Huffington Post caught my eye. It’s written by Abby Rodman, a mom of boys. She’s setting the world straight on the joys and benefits of having a clan of all boys. Contrary to what the many naysayers have shared with her.

“You poor thing!”

“I’m glad I’m not you!”

Those were the comments my own mother – the mom of five boys – heard regularly. And she always shared the same answer: “I’m the luckiest woman in the world. I have six men who will always love and protect me.”

And she was right.

So I liked Abby’s take on it – nearly a half century after my mom’s experiences.

The only thing I’d share back with Abby is her perspective of what it’s like to have girls. I have one. In addition to my two boys. And the three of them have taught me that stereotypes are a dangerous thing.

Girls rock. As do boys.

And definitely. Moms of of only boys really rock.

Here’s Abby’s story.
