Make Your Kids the World’s GREATEST Easter Basket!
Want an hour to spare this weekend to start a memory your kids will never forget? Why not give the Easter Bunny a hand this year—and make yourself look like the super-dad/mom you are by making your kids an Easter basket with real grass! I did this for years with my own kids. And I guarantee – this is a good one.
It’s a simple project and all it takes is a head start – so get going this weekend! The best part of it is the daily ritual you’ll enjoy with your child for the next couple of weeks as you water the soon-to-be bunny’s nest.
You’ll need the following ingredients:
A plastic container to fit inside the Easter basket
Potting soil
Rye grass seed (the quick grow grass seed)
A spray bottle (for daily watering)
A large baggie or dry cleaning plastic bag (to create a “greenhouse” effect)
STEP ONE
Fill the plastic container with potting soil and spread the rye grass seed evenly covering the entire are. Spread a thin layer of soil over the seed then water lightly.
STEP TWO
Create a greenhouse effect with a large baggie or—if your basket is large—a dry cleaning plastic bag. You will leave your plastic container in here 24/7 to speed up the germination process.
STEP THREE
You’ll water your soil, using the sprayer, every day. This is a great project for you and your child. Be careful not to overwater. You want to keep the soil moist—but not muddy. You should start to see germination in about a week. It will look spotty at first…but don’t give up!
STEP FOUR
Within two weeks, you should have a nice thick nest of homegrown grass ready for the Easter Bunny—and your family—to enjoy!
